Design and creation of a poster for the City of Marseille and France Bleu, celebrating the emblematic dish of Provençal culinary heritage: the bouillabaisse. The project presents an illustrated inventory of the rockfish, herbs, and traditional condiments that make up the authentic recipe.
Concept & Experience
Bridging culinary tradition with raw urban energy, the poster takes visual cues straight from the streets of Marseille. The aesthetic leans into street art and collage tropes: every ingredient is rendered as a white-bordered, labeled sticker, reflecting the city’s sticker-covered walls and urban furniture.
The layered floating elements inject a spontaneous rhythm, supported by a system of flat color variants (deep marine blues, sun-drenched yellows, sharp contrasts) that maintain the immediate impact of the silhouettes. From rockfish to saffron and rouille, the piece comes together as a dynamic visual, somewhere between an authentic recipe plate and urban street culture
Creative Process
Initial development centered on vector-based stylization of the fish and seasonings: clean, punchy outlines edged in white to keep each element distinct against varying color planes. A warm palette of tomato, amber, and vibrant pink plays off cool marine blues and lichen greens for immediate legibility.
The identity is anchored by a bold typographic pairing: Filmotype Ace meets Subway Berlin to deliver a retro street signature, balancing the main title with the curved text tracing each individual sticker.
