Concept & experience Conceived around the exhibition “NOIR & BLANC: An Aesthetic of Photography,” this editorial series is rooted in the principles of the International Typographic Style (Swiss Style). This approach prioritizes geometric precision and radical minimalism to elevate the photographic work without overwhelming it. The layout is built on a structured modular grid designed to create spatial tension across each spread. The composition plays on bold scale contrasts, where archival photography engages with generous white space and rhythmic text columns. This visual dynamic is driven by the interplay of contrasting typefaces, balancing the expressive character of Gabriella and Dazzle against the crisp readability of Halogen and Quicksand. A calibrated balance that delivers clear typographic hierarchy while honoring the avant-garde spirit of Crash’s editorial identity. Creative Process This editorial project stemmed from a desire to move beyond a conventional exhibition catalog, turning the magazine into a standalone visual object. The initial phase focused on developing a preliminary framework to channel Crash’s raw, unfiltered identity: pronounced film grain, tight crops, and daring typography. The boards shown below reveal the moodboard and early visual research that steered the direction. This curation of archival references, high-contrast imagery, and radical type treatments captured the publication’s core energy prior to editorial layout. The technical challenge lay in handling black-and-white tonal depth. Prepress contrast optimization delivers rich, deep blacks, while the asymmetrical layout guides the reader’s eye intuitively through works by masters such as Mario Giacomelli and Valérie Belin. City of Marseille & France Bleu

Scroll to discover the project September 2023 Print Art Direction Graphic Design Illustration Illustrator –  Photoshop  City of Marseille & France Bleu Posters « Notre Bouillabaisse de Marseille » About Design and creation of a poster for the City of Marseille and France Bleu, celebrating the emblematic dish of Provençal culinary heritage: the bouillabaisse. The project presents an illustrated inventory of the rockfish, herbs, and traditional condiments that make up the authentic recipe. Concept & Experience Bridging culinary tradition with raw urban energy, the poster takes visual cues straight from the streets of Marseille. The aesthetic leans into street art and collage tropes: every ingredient is rendered as a white-bordered, labeled sticker, reflecting the city’s sticker-covered walls and urban furniture. The layered floating elements inject a spontaneous rhythm, supported by a system of flat color variants (deep marine blues, sun-drenched yellows, sharp contrasts) that maintain the immediate impact of the silhouettes. From rockfish to saffron and rouille, the piece comes together as a dynamic visual, somewhere between an authentic recipe plate and urban street culture Creative Process Initial development centered on vector-based stylization of the fish and seasonings: clean, punchy outlines edged in white to keep each element distinct against varying color planes. A warm palette of tomato, amber, and vibrant pink plays off cool marine blues and lichen greens for immediate legibility. The identity is anchored by a bold typographic pairing: Filmotype Ace meets Subway Berlin to deliver a retro street signature, balancing the main title with the curved text tracing each individual sticker.
